Whistleblowers Allege Mismanagement and Conflicts of Interest at Federal Green Fund SDTC

A senior civil servant was secretly recorded criticizing the "incompetence" and "sloppiness" of the management of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a federal green fund.

Whistleblowers allege conflicts of interest, mismanagement, and unjust firings at SDTC. An external investigation validated some of their complaints.

The civil servant predicted the minister would want to "clean house" at SDTC, but the same management remains in place and was tasked with reforms.

The federal government suspended new funding to SDTC but did not terminate their agreement. The auditor general has now launched her own probe.

Whistleblowers question the independence of a separate federal probe into HR issues at SDTC and want guarantees current employees can speak freely.
