Toyota Recalls 1.8 Million RAV4s for Fire Risk from Faulty Replacement Batteries

Toyota is recalling over 1.8 million RAV4 SUVs from model years 2013-2018 due to a fire risk from some replacement batteries.

The batteries may be incorrectly sized and shake loose, causing a short circuit if the vehicle makes a sharp turn.

Toyota will replace the battery hold-down clamp, battery tray, and positive terminal cover for free.

Owners will be notified in December.

Owners can check if their vehicle is affected using the VIN or license plate on Toyota's or NHTSA's website.
