Chinese Smartphone Maker Transsion Quietly Becomes World's 5th Largest Brand on Strength in Emerging Markets

Transsion, a Chinese smartphone maker, has quietly become the world's 5th largest smartphone manufacturer. Its brands include Tecno, Itel, and Infinix.

Transsion sells mainly in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Oceania, with a strong base in Africa.

Transsion recently overtook Vivo for the #5 spot, though rankings differ between research firms.

Transsion was one of the few brands to grow smartphone sales in Q3 2022, benefitting from demand in emerging markets.

It remains to be seen if Transsion can hold the #5 position as the smartphone market declines in 2023.
