JetBlue and Spirit Plan Mega-Merger to Create 5th Largest US Airline

The JetBlue-Spirit merger would create the 5th largest US airline with over 490 aircraft.

JetBlue and Spirit only compete directly on 60 of their 566 routes, allowing for a much larger combined network.

Fort Lauderdale would become the new JetBlue's largest airport, with nearly half of the airport's total capacity.

The top overlapping routes are Boston-Orlando, New York-Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando-San Juan.

The merger would give JetBlue major access to airports like Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Las Vegas, Newark, and Atlanta.
