Google Finally Brings Back Matte Glass and Softer Design for Pixel 8 Series

Google designers had been waiting to bring back the matte glass back for the Pixel 8 Pro. It provides better grip, feel, and fingerprint resistance.

The Pixel 8 series features smooth, rounded edges for comfort, contrasted by the precise, sharp angles of the camera bar.

The bay blue Pixel 8 Pro color was inspired by looking up at a sunny blue sky, representing hope coming out of the pandemic.

The polished aluminum frame on the Pixel 8 Pro attracts fingerprints easily, unlike the matte rails on the Pixel 8.

Google wanted to ensure the Pixel 8 series didn't feel intimidating and worked on the fit and finish to complement the smoother surfaces.
