Munger Praises BYD Founder Over Musk, Says Berkshire's Stake Now Worth Up to $9B as BYD Nears Tesla in EV Sales

Charlie Munger believes BYD's founder Wang Chuanfu is superior to Elon Musk, calling him a "genius" who can make anything and praising his work ethic.

Munger says Berkshire's investment in BYD has been far more successful than it would have been in Tesla, estimating it's now worth up to $9 billion.

BYD is on pace to overtake Tesla in global EV sales this year, selling 431,603 EVs in Q3 compared to Tesla's 435,059.

Munger passed on investing in Tesla when pitched by Musk, saying auto companies are too risky and unpredictable long-term.

Though BYD makes Munger nervous now, he was captivated by founder Wang's engineering skills and ability to quickly make parts and scale production.
