California to Require Large Companies to Report Carbon Emissions

California Governor Gavin Newsom says he will sign a bill requiring large companies to report their carbon emissions, including from their suppliers.

The law will apply to companies with over $1 billion in annual revenue, affecting over 5,300 businesses.

California would be the first U.S. state to mandate corporate carbon accounting.

Newsom touted California's leadership on climate issues, saying the future happens there first.

Newsom thanked Apple, Salesforce and other large companies that supported the climate disclosure regulations.
