Kishor Blames Voters for Rampant Corruption, Says Leaders Simply Reflect the People

Prashant Kishor blames voters, not leaders, for rampant corruption. He gives a new twist to the saying "Yathaa Raajaa, Tathaa Prajaa" (How the king is, so are the people).

According to Kishor, it is now "Yathaa Prajaa, Tathaa Neta" (Like people, like leader). Leaders become corrupt because voters are sold out for money.

He says leaders mortgage votes for Rs 5,000 after voters sell out for Rs 500-1000. As long as voters yield to freebies and bribes, they can't complain about corrupt leaders.

Once in power, leaders fleece people indirectly through welfare schemes to recover money spent on voters' bribes.

The bottom line is that people pay a heavy price for taking money from leaders during elections.
