AirAsia India Merges with Air India Express to Form Mega Low-Cost Carrier Under Air India

AirAsia India brand ceased operations on October 31, 2023 after starting flights in June 2014.

Tata Group acquired AirAsia's stake and is merging it with Air India Express to create a mega low-cost carrier under Air India brand.

Merger of AirAsia India and Air India Express has been approved by Competition Commission of India.

The new airline will provide connections to Air India's global network with a large fleet and Indian hospitality.

190 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft already ordered for the new mega low-cost carrier.
